Hurricane "Mary" hits Mexico, causing flooding and mudslides Source: 08.25.2014 - 20:06 

 

Resulted in mudslides and floods caused by typhoon "Mary" to damage to roads and private property in the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico, amid calls to the authorities to declare a state of emergency. 

According to the National Center for US-based Miami Hurricanes and the hurricane is located about 755 kilometers southwest of Baja California on Monday, accompanied by winds of 230 kilometers per hour, and severe storms. 

The cyclone moves northwestward at 20 kilometers per hour and "is expected to remain in the category of a major hurricane until early Tuesday morning," according to the American Center for hurricanes. 

General of the Institute of Civil Protection of Mexico asked Sunday evening to declare a state of emergency in 10 municipalities where 10 thousand families affected by the disaster. It follows a declaration of emergency to release federal funds, especially to help the needy. 

The institute said that the roads and footpaths damaged, while resulted in mudslides and flooding damage to homes 

  In the state of Baja California Sur in northwestern Mexico, authorities canceled classes for school this morning due to heavy rains in the town of Los Cabos tourist.
